I built these figures as a wedding gift for two friends of mine who got engaged on a trip to Puerto Aventuras, Mexico.
I'm very proud of the texture that I achieved on the bride-to-be's dress! This was accomplished with a combination of 1x1 half-round tiles, 1x2 and 1x3 rounded plates, and 1x1 quarter tiles. The short sleeves are a new design, but also use the 1x1 half-round tiles to continue the texture. Like the brides in When in Rome and Country Semiformal, this makes use of the 1x2x2/3 slope.
The groom-to-be's outfit is relatively simple in comparison, but I chose a darker shade of tan to distinguish it from his skin tone. The shorts are build in sand blue, which has a limited selection of parts, but, as is often the case, limitation breeds innovation. I'm happy with the shaping here and plan to consider these techniques for future use!
The base is a slight departure from my other wedding gifts, being largely tiled. The specific parts used to cover the surface, particularly the 4x4 macaroni tile and the 3x6 rounded plate dictated what colors I could use here, but I think that the opaque bright light blue is perfect: vibrant without being distracting.
The very last thing added was the sand toys and crab! The bright green shovel was only released in a collectible minifigure, but was the most bright and playful color available for that part.
