HypnoCruiser

Prompt: Take any official LEGO set released before the year 2000 and revamp it.

Inspiration:

I was looking at older themes and stumbled upon Time Cruisers, a theme that ran from 1996-1997.  I chose to revamp 6492 Hypno Cruiser, perhaps the most iconic set of the theme and one that was featured at the Build & Test area at LEGOLAND California for many years.

About the Build:

My model, just like the original, features a propeller and disks on the sides that rotate when the vehicle is rolled.

This barely fits into Vignweek's 32x32 size constraint, and covers the 16x16 minimum with a warped base, which attempted to capture the setting seen in the set's box art. Vehicles are my strongsuit, but don't work well within the Vignweek format. I clearly didn't learn this, as I built two more vehicles later this week.

Build Time: 1 Day

Fun fact:

The propeller used at the front of the engine is actually a Duplo piece, part 2159, that can be detached from a Duplo plane released in 2001.

In doing my research for this build, I enjoyed YouTuber R. R. Slugger's Time Cruisers retrospective video series as well as a number of Time Cruisers stop motion animations.
